A simple bowl that I made that looks so wonderful ..... Raku fired......

My dad - always so funny - he knew that I made a mask of mom and that it did not sell... he said that I should make one of him and it would sell right away... I said - HA, dad.... I DID... and IT did.... (sell quickly, that is)..... he laughed - he said he knew it.... he was so sure that it was his cute little face... and actually ...... I thought I did just a horrible job on it.... and I sold it for next to nothing just to get rid of it... sorry, my sweet funny dad..... I will make a new one soon.... one more befitting the good, wonderful, memorable man that you..... :( :( .... were..... :( .... loving my daddy always...... I miss him so much.... how quickly life goes by.... cherish the moments....... lovelovelove......

I was commissioned to make a mask for a couple joining together as a family. She had a little girl. He had two children and was a musician. I put their children beside each of them, made music lines and notes along with a tremble clef to indicate his long hair..... and then joined them as one in a shape of a heart. They loved it.

Unfortunately they did not stay together.... hmmmm... wonder where this magnificent piece, that they both were so pleased with, ended up.....

My pottery studio... oh... how I have loved it... in the middle of the forest... can't see any houses... not even my own.... up the mountainside..... turn the tunes on high.... dance, create, daydream... looking out the many windows and skylight .... and always totally engrossed in the moment and ENJOYING..... like my own private form of meditation.... all by myself.... creating.... lucky lucky ME!!!!!... my own little world.... ahhhhhh.......

I made this plate a while back.... and I still really like it.....

I am crazy busy with organizing and packing.... unbelievable that I will be moving soon.... over 15 years in one place......

Soon this image will be gone... the BYOB image - bring your own body... to be replaced with a fancy flowing Ko and maybe with dancing women of all sizes.... A simple top - but - makes Christine look FABULOUS!!!! A good day today.... off to Granville Island today in the sunshine - enjoyed the Olympic feel of downtown and then watched the ice skaters dancing on TV when I came home... GOLD!!!!.... Yes!!!...they so deserved it....they were simply overwhelming... - and then heard that my sales this month were very very good.... hm hum... a very good day.....

A new piece made just for Christine Best.... an amazing blues/R&B singer who plays with The Epics..... she looks so fabulous.... a beautiful woman who makes my work look even better.... the main body is a wonderful black silk, and the print is polyester - but it is perfect for her 50/60's look on stage and yet perfect for everyday, too.... I had to run out and buy more of this wonderful, flowing, breathable silk.... and remember, too, that I machine wash and dry all of my fabrics before I sew so that you can throw my pieces into your machines, too..... I want to make art to WEAR and wear and wear and .... WEAR!!

Working all day on my clothing line... very exciting... but... come next week... I must do a bit of pottery for a special order.... I can't wait to touch clay again.... I would so like to do more special masks like Jack... he was fun!!!!.... but next week... a wedding platter... with names of those getting married and their marriage date.... this will be fun, too...the bride wants bright funky colours....

A fabulous day.... spent the entire day with my boys who took my photograph after I whipped this new piece up this morning. We had a great day in Vancouver... sun was shining all day long.... I delivered more pieces to Babs and boys and I went shopping for more material... and we just had the nicest lunch ever together.... life is GRAND.... every day I am so grateful..... how lucky am I?

today - I am getting excited about having a logo, tags, business cards, labels, and a simple classy web site created..... but, trying to get back to sewing...... I AM getting smart, however, and, with imput, having all of this professionally done.....

What fun.... my boys turned 20 years old today.... their girlfriends and their Aunt Gail came over for dinner. I whipped up a few little bamboo jackets and gave them to my boys for their birthday because I always wanted to make them something on my sewing maching... ha ha... Quincy gave his purple top to his Julia and Karson laughingly passed on his blue jacket to an appreciative Kayla who lovingly hugged it all night long... Jeff was not overlooked and gleefully grabbed the parcel that I made for him thinking that it was a whole bunch of bamboo socks as I had made him only once before... he ended up, after his initial disappoointment, having fun, too, putting his gift on his sister.... Gail then proceeded to try on everything else that I happened to have made and still in the house.... she let me know that she wants to buy it all... but would not give up her first present because it looks and FEELS so damn good.... yahoo.... that means a lot that she loves my work..... so... tell me... would YOU like to come over for dinner?

What a frustrating day.... so determined to create with cloth and ... the sewing machine kept breaking down... is it my thread, my sewing machine itself (which is what I think!!!), or the way I sew.... (which seems to be what the sewing machine store seems to think - as they keep charging me for complete overhauls.... and I bought this machine,, my first, only about a half a year ago) - simply frustrating to thread and rethread.... try and retry..... I accept the huge learning curve to learn to sew.... which I have done in the last couple of months... but... YIKES!!!!... it is not fair that I have to learn to fix a damn sewing machine, too.... oh boy!!!!.......... time to relax and unwind and have a little cup of tea... one of my mugs is pictured here..... looking forward to setting up my pottery studio again..... NO electrical needs..... yaaahhhhhh!!!!

today - I am off to the states for the stupid bowl.... yaaahhhh to shopping time!... and maybe a bit of gambling at the casino.... oh yes!!!! good times today...... goooooooo team!!!!.... either one will do.... not much of a sports fan unless my boys are playing.... then look out world... I DO get involved!!!!! ta ta......

Big delicious oversize platters... can't wait to make more... but.... sorting, organizing, giving away, throwing away.... packing..... getting ready for my big move.... I sit here right now in my beautiful, magnificent log house and wonder how I will ever leave.... 15 years... raising my children... loving my chosen environment.... but, move I must..... anyway....... so.... how lucky I am to be moving to a brand new environment..... being welcomed as the Artist In Residence.... how grateful I am... once I get over what I am losing.... and begin, instead, to look forward to what I am gaining.... all will be good.... I am working on living in the moment... taking one step at a time.... I am so peaceful and happy right now...... as my family and I work together to leave our family home...... I am so damn blessed....... if only I had some money, honey....... but, it, too, will come........

Creating and having fun with cloth..... funny how it goes.... yesterday everything went wrong.... wanted to redo a lapel to make it just a little better but somehow got the finished perfect sleeve of this fine silk twisted inside of the lapel and sewed them together on a quick supposedly finishing run... oh boy... the learning curve for me has been massive and obviously I am still learning... but, in my haphazard way... I am still paying attention to the finishing details so that everything... as imperfect as some creative spontaneous parts may be.... the finished areas are perfection and these art to wear pieces will last a lifetime..... so damn much fun.... creating for others.... when someone asks for something special.... it just gets more ideas flowing.... anyway.... it is much better than packing as I should be doing..... I take over my new position as Artist In Residence on March 1... and then even more creativity will happen... working with others and finally back to my original love.... clay!!!!! Yaaaahhhhh!!!!
